The quality of the fire depends a lot on the wood's “wetness” property. Wet wood generates a small flame with a lot of smoke. While burning, the wood dries up and the fire quality improves. A good fire for cooking is made with dry wood.
To ignite the fire, the player needs to use at least one piece of dry wood. Campfires can be extinguished by rain. Campfires can’t be ignited at all during strong winds. The flame intensity in already burning campfires can be increased by wind.
Used to preserve food for longer periods. A good campfire for smoking food has little to no flame with plenty of smoke. This can be achieved by using wet wood. The denser the smoke, the faster the smoking process will be.
The flame intensity in already burning smoker campfires can be increased by wind, which is not optimal for smoke generation. It is advisable to protect the smoker from wind (maybe build a smoke hut?).
